Question looking for info on SBD-nursing mommy

Hi-
I am looking for info on SBD. I am nursing my daughter but looking to lose weight. I have done Atkins in the past and lost all of my weight but now nursing means I can't really do it now. Can anyone give me a lay persons, explaintion on how to do SBD? Can I do it while nursing? I have been doing the herbalife diet of the shakes for breakfast and lunch. Thanks -Whitney

Default hi

i do know that nursing requires about an extra 900 cals a day. so that in itself is a great way to lose after a pregnancy. i know you need good nutrition at that time so not so sure about the shakes etc. why not stick with maintenance phase of atkins or one of the later phases of SBD and try to watch cals ....you are already getting quite a deficit just by burning that extra 900 a day!! congrats on the little one K (my intention is that you will end up losing on maintenace..)

Maintenance phase is perfectly safe for a breastfeeding mom. Here is the link to the atkins site with an article containing the info http://atkins.com/Archive/2002/10/25-756904.html

The info and suggested carb/protein/calories etc. is the same for both pregnant and breastfeeding women. I think SBD is safe to start in phase 2. I would double check on the SBD info though. Best of luck!

Jenn
