Default what to do when your doctors says no more weight loss!

Ok, I am sure there are many who will wish there doctors where telling them this - but I am only 5 pounds from my goal - and i'm just starting to fit in my goal size 6 and i'm not ready to give up and start maintainance. The first thing she said to me was wow - you have lost weight you look good. Then as we went through the examination she told me that I was not to lose any more weight as I was "too" thin. I don't understand because my blood pressure (which I have had problems all my life with LOW blood pressure) was great at 117/60 (much better than 105/45). Additionally all my blood work from my last exam was fine and i'm waiting on the results of this time around.

So i guess i'm looking for a little non-medical advice and support!

Well unfortunately I tend to agree with your doc. at 5'7" and 130 U would be thin enough. BUT I do understand where U are coming from Im 5'6" and even at 140 I know I look good and am at a healthy weight however I think "gee maybe I can get to 130" It really does become a bit of an obcession and its something I am trying to deal with. Instead of trying to lose anymore consentrate on working out and building muscle. U actually might gain a couple pounds however your clothes will fit a bit better.

I tend to agree with your doctor and gwilson.

Don't lose more weight. Lift some weights and do some toning exercises to tone up to that size 6.

I am 5'7" as well and at 130 I fit into a size 6 perfectly after I toned up the tummy and rearend.

I second the weight lifting - you can get into that size 6, be healthy and strong and actually have a metabolism that will support even more food. These are just the physical results - resistance work makes you feel strong, independant and powerful.

listen to your doc. why get obsessed with "6" as a size? why is that the perfect one? 8's still a single digit...or just shop for brands that you're a 6 in--there'll be many, I'm sure. Starting maintenance need not be "giving up" anything--it's converting to a sustainable long-term way of eating.
