Question Please explain sugar alcohols to me..

Can someone give me an easy run-down of these? I asked on another board and really didn't get an explanation of why I need to stear clear of these. Is it just because they cause cravings? Or are the detrimental to my OWL? I have bought several Atkins products that contain these and if they are bad, I'm chucken them!!
Thanks,
Juelz

Hi Juelz,

Sugar alcohols can cause much gastric distress for some people, and are resposible for stalls for many.

Click here to read more information about them.

So No Maltitol! or else!

that's the bad one. The rest seem to be ok to me.
I've gotta go check all my chocolates and sugar-free stuff.

Thanks you guys soooo much for this!

That's my take on it too -- I avoid maltitol all together and use the remainder sparingly. I find lactitol bothers me too, a little, but sorbitol, erythritol and most of the others are OK if I keep my intake under 8g per day.
