ANY color change means you are in ketosis. A stronger color (purple) means more 'units' of ketone are present per unit of fluid. In other words, if you've been drinking a lot of water, you may get a lighter color (pink) than if you are dehydrated, but you are in ketosis either way. Many people want to get the darkest reading, assuming it means they will lose faster. Most often, it just means you're dehydrated, and dehydrated is BAD.

Cheers,

Friday

Darker is not necessarily better. Some times the darkest purple signals being dehydrated.

Most of us no longer use the ketostix because so many things effect their readings, such as exposure to moisture (while still in the bottle...steam from a shower), age of the strips, exercise, water intake etc.

If the strips are showing pink to purple you are in ketosis.....however if you are feeling more energized, notice a wierd smelling breath or urine and the strips are showing beige it could be a bad bottle of strips and you are in ketosis.

I am willing to bet after another month of being on a low carb diet you throw the strips away because of the hassle.

Don't fret over the color

Awesome, thanks you two, for the replies..I know the color can vary over the period of an hour, but I wanted to buy them anyways, just for...I dont know, just so I wouldnt worry about it later.. Okay, so any color on the keto stick is ketosis.. YES! Hehehe.. Thank you again! (I know this question has been asked millions of times, so thanks for sticking with me..)
