Default Bagels and Bread and Chocolate, oh my!!

I took the trip down to the low carb store again today with my DH. They had bagels!! All different flavours, and they were pretty pricey, but only 1 carb per bagel! They tasted absolutely fantastic, I can't notice any difference. I'm thinking they'll be great for making bagel pizza like we used to do with regular bagels.

We also bought the 1 carb per slice bread, and it is a nice sized slice. Delicious! And sugar free turtles, oh my. These are too good, but I have to limit myself to no more than two in one day as the maltitol gives me those bad side effects!

Wow, I never thought LC'ing could taste so good!

lc bagels??? where were you? I can't imagine it, I try to avoid most of those foods, as I am not sure I would be any better at limiting the quantity than I was with regular food, hence creating this rotund situation. But LC bagels, they could be worth looking into.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, everyone!

I am in BC and went across the border in Blaine to a small vitamin shop called Nature's Edge. They had the bagels and bread there, as well as a whole host of other things. The bagels are made by Low Carb Emporium, and I found their website where things can be ordered from, the bagels are at this link:

http://www.deepdiscountnutrition.com/frozenfoods.html

Perhaps you could contact them and find out where they are sold in your area?? They really are terrific. I'm amazed they are low carb.

Thanks for the link! I'm really tempted to buy, but would love a few more reviews from you guys. I've bought stuff based on raves on this board that were revolting - that hansen's soda for example, blech.

Also, how is it possible that an item - say, the brownies - that lists flour as the first ingredient really have only one non-sugar alcohol carb? Maybe I'm too skeptical, but.......

Their shipping is out ragious, on one $6.00 item, shipping would be $7.00. I just can't see doing that.
I know it doesn't cost $7 to ship one little box of atkins blue berry muffin mix.

There are apparently low-carb stores in Vancouver. I heard the tail end of the story on the news this morning, but didn't get any locations. I found one once on a google search. I will have to look again before I go back at Christmas.

Choices in Yaletown appears to sell a variety of low-carb breads too.

Wow, I was considering this but if shipping is that high I will have to forget it too. Low carb items are great but not when they end up costing an arm and a leg. I will use what I have found here.

I love the Low Carb Emporium breads. There are actually 2.5 g carbs per bagel not 1g. If you look at the way they state it on the bag, it says 1 serving is 1 oz, but 1 bagel is 2.5 oz. Kind of sneaky.

I think I saw stuff like this at a Sugar-Free store in Montclair, NJ... it's called Sugar Free Sensations. I didn't really look at the freezer/bakery section too long b/c i'm on Induction... but...
