What is a "cheat" to you?
This didn't start working for me until I made it a lifetime change -- not just a diet. I read that 100 times, but finally something clicked.
I don't consider having a treat once in a while a "cheat" -- nor an occasional high carb meal. If I am going to do this for life, I want to have the ability to adapt to special occasions -- or the time I just want a donut.
By not giving in before, I was feeling so deprived that when I did give in, it became an uncontrollable binge. As though I was "getting in all in" before I "gave it up" again.
Now I consider a "cheat", a binge. If I lose control, have more than I need or really want, if I can't go right back to lowcarbing, then that is my "cheat".
Does this make sense?
I'd like to hear what works for you.
