Smile Does anyone else use VegeSal?

I've been meaning to bring this up for awhile, but keep forgetting (that darned 52 year old brain!!) Anyway, I LOVE VegeSal! Does anybody else here use it? I first heard about it in Dana Carpender's cookbooks.

For those who don't know about it, it's a salt substitution...."VegeSal (Vege Sal) by Modern Products - This delightful all-purpose vegetable mineral salt seasoning is a unique blend of nature's finest salt crystals combined with 14 of the choicest, fresh-dried leaf and root vegetables. Plus tangy kelp and the tastiest soybean extract. It all adds up to an exciting new tastemaker that's too good to miss. Use VEGE-SAL just as you would ordinary table salt in all cooking and as a table seasoning. One taste of VEGE-SAL and you’ll never use ordinary salt again!"

I love the flavor it gives my food, and most importantly I don't retain water so much when I use it. It smells kinda funky out of the container, but tastes great in or on food.

Do they have a salt free version or is it just because it's made from salt crystals that it doesn't make you retain as much water? I've been wanting to try it, but have been trying to stick to the no salt substitutes like "No Salt Spike". I'd love to try VegeSal if it doesn't make you retain water though!

Wait... it's a salt substitute that contains salt? Hmmm!

Well, maybe I shouldn't have called it a "salt substitution". Dana Carpender uses it "instead of salt". I like it because it doesn't make me retain water like regular salt does, and because it doesn't have that aftertaste like salt substitutes do.

Is it made by the same company that makes SPIKE? I love SPIKE! I don't care about the salt,,,did I see someone say that there is a no salt SPIKE? I will have to look for that...SPIKE is the bomb on popcorn! Not that I eat it anymore....... it's great on eggs too!

Yes, there's a no-salt version of Spike (and it's excellent, you don't miss the salt in it IMHO). I might give VegeSal a try, but I don't need any help retaining water so I'm a little wary. I'm like a sponge! I'm quite sure VegeSal is not made by the same company as Spike, but I'm not positive.
