Default Bad Snack ??

I just cut and fried up a low carb tortilla (supposedly 4g net carbs) and a little nacho cheese (3g for 2 tbs). This is tasting sooooo yummy but I'm feeling like I'm eating something wrong. Am I? If not there are so many things I can do with this! Nacho's, pizza's, etc. I am now trying to keep my carb count around 40 (its the only way I feel some energy).

I read the label on the nacho cheese dip I bought for the kids, and it has all sorts of starches and junk in it... in my opinion, you'd be better off topping it with shredded REAL cheese and nuking it to melt the cheese. If you're not in induction, it'd be a good snack. I use the low-carb, whole wheat tortillas for wraps and pizzas. A dab of sauce (check the label carefully, some have added sugars) some turkey pepperoni and some mozzerella, baked until brown and bubbly.

Thank you so much, and I agree completely concerning the cheese. As long as I don't get too carried away with it, this will be a very welcome addition to my WOE! I can't wait to try making the pizza!

That snack sounds so good....(drool)

Have you thought about using Pepper Jack cheese instead of nacho cheese? It will give you a good "Mexican" taste and has 1 carb per oz., I believe.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong b/c I do a different program from Atkins...not sure if pepper jack would be a no-no for induction.

Pepper jack should be fine, as long as it's regular aged cheese, not processed.

I'd throw some onion, tomato and/or peppers on that tortilla next time, too. That way, you're sneaking some vegetables in.

MMM thank you so much for the suggestions! I think I'm gonna have this for breakfast with the veggies and cheese!

Hi Kristine, no processed cheese? I've been eating a slice of Kraft Singles periodically (1g/slice) on my burgers. Do you think it would hinder my weightloss in any way? Thanks.

I eat Kraft American cheese on hamburger meat. I have Kraft jalapeno cheese on a low carb tortillia or melted on 10 Tostitos low carb chips for a snack about once a week.

i use the low-carb tortillas and kraft cheese singles, roll and micro then dip in salsa. i haven't had any problems but everyone is different. i think you should be ok.
as far as induction goes, i would stick with non processed foods. onions and non cooked tomatoes are a no no too.
