Unhappy Binge behavior =(

I can't control the portions of Macadamia nuts!!!

I don't know what it is, if its net carb is 1 gram per serving! I think I had about 4 oz just now at work, and my behavior was so reminiscent of my binges on sugar laden things that I am just so depressed...because I know that to become thin, I have to alter my behavior for life.

This makes me feel so horrible, I'm never buying macadamia nuts again!!!

Do nuts trigger a compulsive eating behavior in anyone else? Does anyone else struggle with bingeing, even with non-carby items?

you are not alone, different things can set different people off. I have to be really careful with low carb "sweet" treats -- they set me off, or sometimes something that immitates a carb can set me off. Also emotional eating or just plain boredom eating. It is a learning process and helps you learn more about yourself and your body.

It'd probably be best to avoid these for a while.

Don't get too discouraged, you've learned something from this experience, so that is good.

Yeah, I can't have them around in quantity. Don't feel alone.

Default Binge Behavior

I have that same problem with sunflower seeds. I tell myself I am only going to have a 1/4 cup and pretty soon I am eating a 1/2 a cup. The only nice thing about doing it with sunflower seeds is that they sure are a lot cheaper than the macadamia nuts, which is the main reason I have not tried them!

Now I measure out exactly 1/4 cup and put the rest out of sight!

I do binge on low carb things.

I ate two ten ounce packs of frozen spinach with butter and galic in one sitting the other day. (Yes, I am a freak LOL)

With the macadamia nuts, I like them because for some reason, I can't binge on them. They are so fatty they make me feel really full, and if I keep eating them I feel sick. The most I can eat at one sitting is two ounces. More than that and I start to feel as if I will hurl.

I have started keeping them in the car though. There are some days that I can't eat breakfast, so I toss back a handfull on my way to work.

Gotta have "emergency food!"

Don't get too down on yourself. YOu could've ate a loaf of bread...but you didn't! You can't change the past...look to the future and you will succeed.

Something that helps me is I measure things and put them in seperate servings in baggies. For example, I have an old scale from when I did weight watchers....I weigh the nuts and dispurse them 1 oz per bag. (or whatever amt. you like to have at a sitting) This works well with cheese too. When I pack my lunch I weigh 1 oz. servings of cheese and put them in my fridge at work so when i feel I need a snack, I grab it.

Good luck & don't be so down on yourself.

I agree seperating things out really works - my weakness is cashew nuts and if i don't put them in little servings i would eat a whole big bag!!!!

you should do what I do to combat binging on nuts...

buy a big ass bag which is cheaper than buying small ones and then put a small serving size in little baggies and take those to work... that way there ISNT anymore to eat and you've only eaten what you wanted to

it works
