Default Is it real?

I'll have to admit that I find this whole weight loss thing to be somewhat surreal.

I started this SBD journey 71 days ago not knowing what to expect. I lost weight in the first couple of weeks and figured 'yea, right'...fully expecting the weight to come right back...but...I stuck with the program and over the ensuing weeks continued to lose. Don't get me wrong I'm extremely happy about the whole thing...it just hasn't seemed real. As my clothes got too big I held on to the old ones thinking the dream would end and I would need to wear them again...but...I continued to lose...people I haven't seen for a while would comment about the loss...it felt good but it still didn't seem real...in my mind it was always 'yea, right'...

Well today for the first time IT FEELS REAL...I've lost 28lbs and for the first time I can really tell the difference...it's like waking up to a new day...I can finally see the change!

While I still have a ways to go and haven't lost nearly as much as some of the weight loss heros on these forums, I really feel that I will make my goal and beyond.

I don't post a lot, mostly in the SBD forum, but I read most of the posts on the other forums daily. All of you have inspired me, educated me, and been my companions on this journey, even if you didn't know it.

SBD Rocks.

Hey PStar,
I know exactly what you mean! After trying for so long and failing or regaining I just couldn't quite get my head around the fact that I had lost so much for real. I somehow seemed to feel that I might get up one morning and the scales would read the old weight and the struggle not to gain more would continue! Eventually though I lost more and more and it just became the "new normal". I must say that although I have adjusted to my new weight mentally I haven't stopped appreciating the success and I imagine you won't either. Cheers...here's to continued success!

well done - I hope your weight loss continues - it is great to hear of other people's successes - gives people like me who are on a bit of a "stall" hope for the very near future.

Congratulations on your success!

I recently had a healthy baby after struggling with infertility and pregnancy loss. Even though I hold him and nurse him and love him every minute of the day, it doesn't feel real quite yet, either. I think sometimes pure joy can be just as numbing as pain -- luckily it wears off and we can experience the pleasure of our success.
