Default carbs vs cals/fat/protein.. is it worth the carb intake?

http://www.thedailyplate.com/nutrit...enchilada-sauce

1/4 C is 30 cals, 1g fat, 4 g carbs and 1g protein....

Worth it or no?

I generally eat it mixed with shredded chicken or turkey

The question being.....

A) can you get by with just 2TBS as a serving?

B) will it be the enchilada sauce or face down in a bowl of <insert carb crap>

I'd take the 2 TBS of enchilada sauce.

I don't see in ingredients....if it's just vinegar, tomatillos I'd go for it. If it has HFCS and other um-mentionables, I'd make a batch of my own.

I agree with Lisa - if the ingredients are all 'legal' for your induction-style plan and the carbs are mainly from vegetables go for it!

For introduction I would say no. Too easy to go over. Remember introduction should be the strictest part of the diet because its the detox part where the body is switching fuels. You body is not interested in switching so any excuse it gets it will just prolong the process.

Maybe make it without using flour (good label reading by the way ) and just reduce it a bit by simmering it to remove some liquid.

Good point, Zelocka for someone following Atkins induction strictly, but Awlass is trying to decide on which plan to follow at the moment.

She is having a go at eating induction-style without keeping her net carbs as low as induction levels as a less restrictive and scary way of weaning herself off that oatmeal breakfast .

I think my oatmeal days are gone until maintaining (we'll see how my body reacts to it)
Yestarday I ate 39.2 net carbs... so far my meal plan for today is 20.25 net carbs, but i still have one more snack to throw in, so im not sure what it will be yet... maybe i'll just cut dinner in half and eat the second half for a snack...
still think im getting too much cheese each day... not sure how to cut it down though!

Which would you prefer?

I favour boiled green beans smothered in butter - though some people just toss them in the deepfryer for some crunch!

To keep your carbs down maybe drop the cheese a tad tomorrow - and remember that all those oopsies have a fair amount of cream cheese in them too.

This is one reason I tend to use my adapted revolution roll recipe which uses mayo instead of the 3 tablespoons of cream cheese Dr Atkins' rolls used.

The original 1972 Revolution Rolls were made with 3 TBS cottage cheese.

There is no recipe for Rev rolls from 1992-2002.

It should also be noted no Rev roll recipe in the 2010 NANY.

The cream cheese oopsie roll recipe was from a member not Dr. A.

Progress not perfection.

Awlass--There is a 4 oz limit to hard cheeses during induction and it is mentioned that you are not losing than to decrease the amount of cheese.

Progress not perfection.

To make a tomatillo sauce--

Take fresh tomatillos--take off the papery brown skins. Quarter and lightly boil in a small amount of water until they are nice and soft. Add a bit of onion, garlic powder salt and pepper--and there you have it.

Or....buy the Herdez brand of green sauce found in the mexican section of the grocery store.

Easy peasy.

Yes, I know that Dr Atkins didnt revise the original rev roll recipe in DANDR by making it with cream cheese (which he swapped for cottage cheese in DANDR on the cheese list for induction) but I am not sure on which of the Atkins boards I found the 'new' recipe.

So I suppose I should call the cream cheese version a 'New Revolution Roll' recipe which I have adapted by using mayo instead of cream cheese.

And then Cleo invented the Oopsie by misreading the 'New Revolution Roll' recipe and using 3 ounces instead of 3 tablespoons and found a different (more tasty to many people) 'product'.

I was not trying to take any kudos from her at all and apologise to her if it read that way and she sees this post - sorry girlfriend!!

It is interesting that NANY does not have the recipe either in any of its forms, Lisa. Does it have any 'roll' or 'bread' recipes suitable for induction?

BTW in DANDR we are allowed 3-4 ounces of firm, semi-soft and/or soft 'aged cheeses' which is why I can eat my yummy brie now and again !!!
Quote:
Cheese
You can consume three to four ounces daily of the following full fat, firm, soft, and semi-soft aged cheeses, including:
cheddar
cow, sheep and goat cheese
cream cheese
Gouda
mozzarella
Roquefort and other blue cheeses
Swiss

Has NANY dropped the 'aged cheeses' bit in favour of 'hard cheeses' only do you know, Lisa?

I am a bit frugal on buying books just to keep up with things so am waiting till NANY gets to the shelves of our charity shops!!
