Welcome Tracey!

Induction - just do it as close to perfect as you can. The better you follow the rules, the better your results and the quicker you'll be free from the effects of carbs. Remember, it's only 2 weeks, you can do that!

Read the book is a GREAT tip.

And I'd add that if you can get your skinny husband to read the book, too, it will help -- he can offer better support if he knows and understands what it is you are doing!

The other thing that has helped me is to keep my fridge well stocked with quick low carb snacks -- 1 oz cheese sticks, cooked chicken legs, hardboiled egges, tuna salad, mixed greens -- I don't like being hungry, so I don't let myself GET hungry -- at least, not very often.

Ah to be 19 again. I'm 30. I have 2 boys, one 10 yrs old the other will be 2 next month.

I already posted in your journal. Thought I'd drop by here too.

I agree with the rest, get your honey to read the book so he know what to expect so he don't go buying something like my honey did at first and I was like, NO NO I CAN'T EAT THAT. He does good now and I don't have to scream at him anymore for putting salt on the meat when it's his turn to cook.

Hang in there your gonna look great and feel even better.

Hugs,

Welcome to the forum!

My most important advice would be to weigh yourself only one a week! And when it gets tough come to the forum for support (good to come here when it isn't tough either).

Hi Tracey, I am relitively new too, only 3 weeks in. I can honestly say that this atkins or low carb diet is the way to go, I have 100lb to lose too and really feel bad about myslef. If you stick to the induction period for two weeks you'll feel much better and more able to think about making it a part of your life.

Be awaire that you might get withdrawl from things, like chocolate, sugar or carbs such as potatoes or rice, but these will go by the end of the first week and you'll no longer want these things. This is what happened to me anyway.

Make sure you keep in touch with everyone, this site is just fantastic!

Welcome! This is a super place to get support, meet friendly folks, and find recipes.

When I started, 3 months ago, I had 132lbs to go. Now, I have 93. Still a lot, but I'm so much healthier!! I'm a little older than you are, but everyone around me is thin, so I know how hard it is. Most women in a college environment are stick thin . . .

YOU CAN DO THIS! If I can, YOU can! Honestly, it may be a little weird the first 2 weeks, and you may have the occasional "challenge" later on b/c you're human or because other people like your hubby might not "get it", but the good news is we do and once you start this and really give it 2 or 3 weeks, you WILL see and feel results and you can ALWAYS get back on track.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Sue
