Default Let's settle the lunchmeat debate FOR GOOD!

OK....I've heard so many different things concerning lunchmeats...yes you can eat 'em...no you can't...sometimes...try to stay away from them.

ENOUGH!

Can we or can we not eat lunchmeats? Packages turkey breast has 1 gram of carbs per 7 slices, but I've heard the other ingredients are bad. PLEASE let's settle this once and for all.

Lunchmeat or no lunchmeat? That is the question...

You can eat them but because they are processed and high in sodium its good not to eat all the time. Occasionally is ok.

Real food is always and best for you.

Yes and No!
I think occassional use is ok. As Lora said it's the added nitrates and sodium that make them less than ideal for everyday use. Plus the ones I'm seen have sugars in the form of dextrose added.

I vote yes! But...I always check out the carb count. Honey ham is usually 2 carbs, where as smoked turkey is usually 0 or 1. I always eat it. I roll it up with cheese, or just eat it out of the bag. Good stuff!

They are not recommended. However, you can eat some as long as it is within moderation due to the sodium etc.

I wouldn't make them my main protein source because they have a lot of things in them that are not good for us like fillers, starches, sugars, lots of sodium and nitrates. When it comes to food, the less processed the better, but once in a while should be okay.

Yes! I eat sandwich meat but only from the deli.
Boars Head or Applegate Farms have very few if any additives
