Default dry beef dip

This is one of my favorite dips and I just realized I can still have it. I use the "cheese crackers" to dip with now.

Dry beef dip
**************
2 1/2 oz dry beef, cut into tiny squares
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 c sour cream
2 TBS chopped onion
2 TBS chopped green pepper
2 TBS heavy cream
1/2 tsp black pepper

Mix it all up and heat at 350 for 15 minutes. Serve warm.

I would double the recipe if you are planning it for a party.

Your dip sounds great, but I have a question... when you say dried beef, do you mean the kind that's often used in "SOS" (Creamed Chipped Beef on toast)? It's very hard to find here in the New York area -- I think it's a Southern 'thing.' When I visit relatives in PA, I make them crazy to hit a supermarket for a couple of jars, and I have a friend who gets her brother in SC to mail care packages of Chipped Beef to her. Thanks!!

I get dried beef in a jar from hormel. It is located near the spam, deviled ham and tuna fish in the grocery store. It has no cream sauce with it. Just rolled up beef in a jar.
I have also found it in the cold deli meats section in a hanging package.
