Default sugar in atkins products?

ok I just tried the new atkins ice cream bars.
OH MY GOD!! they are way too good if that is possible
but I was looking at the box and found something sort of troubling... the breakdown says that there is sugar in it as well as sugar alcohols. 1 gram this is true, but sugar none the less, now I have trained myself to put something back on the shelf if it says anything besides 0 next to sugar content. whats going on? someone fill me in!

Dairy products contain natural sugars called Lactose. I've read the ingredients for the Atkins ice cream products and didn't see any added sugars, so the 1 gram reported in the nutritional information is probably coming from lactose, not added sugar.

so does that mean that 1 gram of sugar in any product I buy is acceptable?

If it's 1g per hundred it's not going to kill you. Just remember to count it. The word 'sugar' covers lots of natural sugars as well as the white death food producers seem to like to add!
