Thumbs up UK Visitor would love to meet low carb members on her tour of the US in May

Hi Folks

I am coming over to the US on 10th May for a 3 week tour of the East and West Coast. Last year I did a 2 week tour across Canada and met up with lots of fellow low carbers. Can I do the same again this year? I am looking for people living in the areas where I will be visiting to show me the best places to dine and hopefully come with me. If you are interested, please let me know in this thread. My itinerary is given below. Please be aware that I will not be around from this Sunday until the following Thursday (21st).

10th May: UK - New York. Fly to New York where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for a two night stay.
Hotel: On the Ave

11th May: New York. The day is yours to explore the Big Apple, one of the world’s most exciting cities. Why not see the best of the city on our optional sightseeing tour, which includes visits to Broadway, the Empire State Building, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, City Hall, Wall Street and Trinity Church. There is also a range of great-value optional excursions to choose from in the afternoon and evening.
Hotel: On the Ave
Dinner with Chrisews

12th May: New York City - Pocono Mountains - Niagara Falls. We leave Manhattan and head north-west through the Pocono Mountains and the scenic farmlands of upstate New York. Crossing the border at the Rainbow Bridge, we travel into the Canadian province of Ontario for a two-night stay at Niagara Falls.
Hotel: Ramada Coral Resort

13th May: Niagara Falls. Included sightseeing and cruise. Get ready for one of the true highlights of your trip – a visit to one of the world’s most amazing natural phenomena. This morning’s sightseeing includes spectacular views of the waterfalls from scenic points on the rim of the gorge and from the decks of the Maid of the Mist, where you will experience the thundering columns of water up close! Your afternoon is free to relax or explore the local area.
Hotel: Ramada Coral Resort
See Tofi?

14th May: Niagara Falls – Penn Dutch Country – Philadelphia. We head south-east, following the Susquehanna River through the Appalachian Mountains and into Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Then it’s on to the stylish city of Philadelphia for an early evening arrival.
Hotel: Courtyard by Marriott

15th May: Philadelphia - Annapolis - Washington DC. Included sightseeing. We begin the day with an included orientation tour of Philadelphia, the birthplace of American Independence and now the USA’s fourth largest city. Afterwards during your free time you may want to visit Independence National Historic Park and Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed. We then head for historic Annapolis and there’s some time to explore this quaint waterfront town at your leisure. Then it’s on to the US capital and seat of government, Washington DC, for a two-night stay.
Hotel: Capital Inn Hotel & Suites

16th May: Washington DC. Included morning sightseeing. During our tour with a local guide you will see Capitol Hill, the White House and the Lincoln Memorial. We then cross the Potomac River to see the American heroes’ graves in beautiful Arlington National Cemetery. Perhaps visit historic Union Station for a great international lunch followed by fascinating exhibits in the Smithsonian Museum along the National Mall. Enjoy an optional dinner at a waterfront restaurant.
Hotel: Capital Inn Hotel & Suites

17th May: Washington DC - San Francisco. An early afternoon flight to San Francisco, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a three-night stay.
Hotel: Cathedral Hill Hotel

18th May: San Francisco. Included sightseeing. The ‘Golden Gate City’ has a vibrant, cosmopolitan atmosphere and is packed with fascinating sights. Highlights of your included morning sightseeing tour include the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, Nob Hill and the Old Spanish Mission Dolores. The afternoon is yours to relax or explore further. Ride one of San Francisco’s historic cable cars, take a walking tour in one of the city’s diverse neighbourhoods or visit famous and fascinating Alcatraz Prison. And in the evening, why not enjoy an optional tour of San Francisco’s famous Chinatown with dinner and late night sightseeing?
Hotel: Cathedral Hill Hotel

19th May: San Francisco. A full day to explore more of the city and local area at your leisure. Perhaps you’d like to take an optional excursion to walk among the giant redwood trees of Muir Woods, followed by a visit to the artist’s enclave of Sausalito? And in the evening, why not enjoy a seafood dinner on Fisherman’s Wharf?
Hotel: Cathedral Hill Hotel

20th May: San Francisco - Wine Country - Sacramento - Sonora. We head north into the wine-growing region of Sonoma, with a short stop for wine tasting. After an afternoon break in Sacramento, capital of California, we follow the Forty-Niner Gold Rush Trail to the historic gold camp of Sonora for an overnight stay. Evening is at leisure.
Hotel: Inns of California Sonora

21st May: Sonora - Yosemite National Park - Mammoth Lakes. The day begins with a scenic drive to Yosemite National Park, a 1,200 square mile wonderland of lakes, giant granite domes, pinnacles, mountains, waterfalls and lush forests. There’s plenty of free time to wander the trails, rent a bike, or relax by the Merced River. Later we cross the high Tioga Pass and stay overnight in Mammoth Lakes.
Hotel: Mammoth Mountain Inn

Note: When the Tioga Pass is closed due to snow (typically before May 30 and after October 15, but dependent on local conditions) it will be necessary to alter our route and overnight in Fresno on Day 12.

22nd May: Mammoth Lakes - Las Vegas. We descend through the snow-capped Sierra Nevadas into the ‘Silver State’ and cross the striking desert landscape to the ‘Sin City’ of Las Vegas, an amazing neon oasis of ‘themed’ hotels, spectacular casinos, glamorous shows and nightlife.
Hotel: Imperial Palace

23 May: Las Vegas. The day is yours to relax by the pool or walk the famous Las Vegas ‘Strip’ with its casinos, shopping plazas and other attractions. A variety of optional excursions are available, including a raft trip through dramatic Black Canyon on the Colorado River. In the evening, there’s a chance to join us for an optional night out at a dazzling cocktail show featuring top Vegas entertainment.
Hotel: Imperial Palace

24 May: Las Vegas - Grand Canyon - Flagstaff. We cross the desert and the old Mohave gold-strike country, passing through Williams and the Kaibab National Forest to arrive in the Grand Canyon by mid-afternoon. Marvel at one of the Natural Wonders of the World as you experience the breath-taking views of the Grand Canyon. There’s time to wander along the canyon rim, or you may decide to join the optional helicopter 'flightseeing' tour. In the late afternoon we head for Flagstaff, nestled at the base of the San Francisco Mountains, for an overnight stay.
Hotel: Amerisuites

25 May: Flagstaff - Oak Creek Canyon - Sedona – Scottsdale. We drive south through Oak Creek Canyon, then to Sedona, a centre for south-western and New Age arts. There’s plenty of time to relax before perhaps joining us for our optional Rawhide western dinner outing.
Hotel: Amerisuites

26 May: Scottsdale - Colorado River - Palm Springs. We drive west through the desert to cross the Colorado River into California, travelling past date palm plantations, before arriving in Palm Springs in the afternoon. Hotel: Quality Inn

27 May: Palm Springs - Los Angeles area. Included sightseeing. A mid morning departure for the ‘City of Angels’, Los Angeles. On arrival, you’ll enjoy a tour of the world’s ‘Capital of Glamour’ that includes Hollywood, Sunset Strip, Mann’s Chinese Theatre and the famous Kodak Theatre. I see you are going to be stopping in my home town of San Francisco on your journey. I live in Leicester UK now. Might I suggest you visit Muir Woods while you are there if you have time. It is a beautiful Redwood forest just across the Golden Gate Bridge in Marine County. There are tour busses you can get from Union Square. When I was still living there and I had visitors from the UK, I always took them there and loved watching the look af Awe in their eyes. Have a fantastic trip.
