Some 'sugar free' products are made with either sugar alcohols or aritificial sweeteners ; and all have their potential problems. Artificial sweeteners (splenda, aspartame, saccharine etc) can cause a rise in insulin and make you crave the 'real thing'. Sugar alcohols, while touted as not being 'carbs' can cause people to react as though they were carbs, many diabetics have insulin reactions after eating sugar alcohols. Also, they are partially undigestible by your body and can have a somewhat laxative effect; never eat more than the recommended serving if you do indulge.
Replacing sugar with either of these is simply replacing one addiction with another; the idea behind LC Is to kick the carb habit and heal your insulin resistance. Whether sugar free anything is ok to munch on depends entirely on you; how it effects you and why you want / need it.
Of course as in all things moderation is key.
