Question How to Whoosh!!!!?

When I first joined I read some messages on "whooshing". Just a slang word of course! But just wondered if any of you that have had success losing a few extra pounds faster could give me some tips on how to do this!

Thanks!
Ada

"whoosh" is just slang, you're right. It refers to the random, sudden losses of several pounds overnight. You can't do anything to CAUSE it other than sticking to plan.

The elusive "Whoosh Fairy" is fickle and strikes where she pleases...

Whoosh's usually occur after a stall when your body finally lets go of some of the weight it's been holding on to. If you are losing at a constant rate week after week you probably won't get a whoosh unless the whoosh fairy picks you as one of her favorites.

Funny that I randomly opened this post...just today I realized that my pattern of weight loss was just as potatofree described. So I've whooshed three times now. Its a weird way to lose. Several days of a non-budging scale and then --bang!-- 3 or four pounds gone.

I've noticed that about a pound comes back the next day or so before I settle in at the lower weight. I'm not sure its any better or worse than slow-n-steady. It makes for lots of days wondering if the plan actually works.

I suppose if I'd stay off the scale until weigh-in day, I wouldn't notice it and agonize.

Best of luck,

crowe

I think it has a lot to do with the way your body works too.

My husband will lose 3-4 lbs, then stay at the same weight for 2-3 weeks, then lose 3-4 lbs more. He doesn't lose a steady 1-2 lbs a week, just in these "chunks" ....and he gets so frustrated on his "stay-the-same" weeks.

Part of it may have been weighing on an analog scale, so you don't notice the 1/2 lb here and there....we just got a digital scale after new years, so it'll be encouraging for him to see his fractions go down now!!

Just my $0.02!
