I use fitday.com. I plan all my daily menus there - and it provides feedback on protein/carbs/fat/calories as well as the nutrient level of my menu. I then adjust it as I change what I actually eat. I also use it to journal as well. I highly recommend it.

DoubleD is so right, Ella! I couldn't have done this without this forum + Fitday. http://www.fitday.com
In addition to fat, protein, carb ratios, it'll show you if you're getting enough nutrients, how many calories, and more.

Does anyone know the carb count in flax seeds? I have been eating milled flax seeds for breakfast, and I just entered the recipe in my cyber cook book and it says there are a zillion carbs in one dish. Please say it isn't so. I got the recipe from this forum it includes: 3 tablespoons of milled flax seed mixed into hot water, a little milk and splenda. Please reply anyone...thanks

The packages say 0, that there are an equal number of carbs and fiber. When Iput them into fitday or a hidden carb calculator though I get that the fiber is already subtracted form the total carb count. You might want to count the carbs in them just in case. They are a good way to stay regular according to many though.

I just looked up Flax seed in the USDA report and 3 tablespoons have 12.33 grams of carbs, 10 of which are fibre.

BTW: USDA has a handy little program you can download that puts the database and a search utility on your PC. It's too easy to use. And you can select a measurement type and the quantity with decimals (i.e. 2.5 cups) to get exactly what you want.

DebPenny, Thanks so much. Are we supposed to be subtracting the fiber? I am hearing this a lot but I never knew about this before.
Do you subtract the fiber? Anyway, thanks for the info....
