Mid cycle bleeding-I have had enough of it!
I started Atkins May 2003 and stayed on it until October 2003. While on Atkins in that time period I was getting my TOM 2 and 3 times a month. I had never had a problem with my TOM before. I went to my doctor several times, had bloodwork, an exam and ultrasound and she told me I was fine. At that time I asked her if she could change me to a low dose pill because I read on this forum that it can help the breakthrough or midcycle bleeding. I still had problems!
So, from November to February I went off of Atkins and guess what my TOM's were perfect again! In March of this year I went back on Atkins and the TOM problems started again. My doctor switched my pill again and I was still having problems.
So, last week I decided once and for all to give up hardcore Atkins, I just can't go around bleeding for weeks at a time, it's awful and I can't stand it anymore. It's not worth it!
I started my own version of a lower fat healthy lower carb diet and guess what, my bleeding problems have stopped! I am eating about 1300-1400 calories, about 30 grams of healthy fats and about 80-100 carbs a day, also I am eating about 80-100 grams of protein too!
On other posts in this forum people have said that there abnormal TOM's were only in the first couple of months of Atkins but mine lasted forever! Some people aren't going to like this post but I don't think it's healthy for me to have 2 or 3 TOM's in a month! Anyway, the good news is that at least Atkins had educated me on the types of healthy fats and healthy carbs and I am well on my way to losing. Just after one week of this new diet, my pants are loose and I am losing! I really believe everyone has to find the right diet for themselves and I am greatful for all of the knowledge I have gained from the Atkins book and this site.
