I was referred here by someone on a Low Carb e-list. I've never been on
a forum and am finding it quite confusing. The FAQs seem to assume that
one knows how to use a forum! Oh, well. I'm a quick study. Been doing
Atkins for a few months but keep backsliding even though I feel much
better when I lowcarb. Annoying to me that I don't do what feels best
for me. I hope the group will have some clues as to why we self-sabotage.
Thanks for having me. Frances

Hi Frances and welcome to the board.

You can't break anything here - so click on everything. You'll be moving around here like a pro in no time. There's even a place where you can ask your computer-related questions.

There was a good discussion on self-sabotage on the Maintenance Board. If you click on the underlined phrase go here to read it your computer will take you right to the discussion.

There are certainly no easy answers to that very difficult concept, but there are lots of good thoughts and opinions.

Consider starting a journal by going the Journal/Bootcamp section of this board (from the main board section) and starting a new message in the "F" section (for the first letter in your name). Members update their jounal daily or as needed and it's a way for others to visit you and give you lots of support and advice.

Thanks for the welcome and the info. I
was excited to see that you hit goal (at
the bottom of your reply) in such a short
time. Made me realize I could do it if I
quit sabotaging! Thanks, Frances

Welcome Francis!!!!

Have no fears about learning your way around the forum.... I came here brand new to computer and was able to figure things out!!

I spent my first few days with as many smilies in the posts as words!!! (remember that Sponge???)

I hope you find the encouragement and inspiration here to stick with this!! We'll all be rooting for you!!
Ellie

Default Thanks, Ellie

I am still confused but I imagine I will soon
get the hang of it. One problem is my machine and
AOL are so slow that it takes forver to come up
with a screen for me. Also, sometimes this site
requires me to "log on" with name and password
and other times I can just post. Don't get it.
But - I hope I stick to it, too. I am tired of waddling
around. Thanks for the support, Frances

You'll get the hang of it!

I'm surprised to hear you could post without logging in--- that never happened to me.

I can understand your frustration with AOL!
I have MSN and they disconnect me all the time thinking the computer is idle. Makes me so mad if I'm trying to post or read an article.

If you have a problem--- theres a section near the bottom of page where you can ask for help!!

Good Luck!!! And HAPPY LOCARBING!!
Ellie

Default Hi, Ellie

Thanks for your reply. I can't get on
here easily, as I said, so I give up when
AOL is going to take 10 minutes. I am
planning to switch to RoadRunner when
I can but it is expensive. I just clicked on
this time without having to log in. The
site came right up without user name or
password. Sometimes does and sometimes
not. No idea why. My son goes home in
the morning and I am back on LC with
serious intent. I have been a lax little
pudgeball for the entire Christmas season.
Wish me luck! Frances
