Default Induction Question

I have a couple questions concerning Sausage/ Sausage links.

Are they allowed on Induction? The package states no carbs. Is there anything else I should look for in the ingredients for them not to be allowed?

Most Italian sausage has no sugar in it but it may have cheese so if it does, than it will have some carbs. Watch out for breakfast links - many have sugar and/or fillers in it - - same for frankfurters.

I ate sausage during induction on occasion and it posed no problem. Now on OWL I watch the sausage consumption because of the high calories and fat content.

Default Added sugar?

If the pakage indicates no carbs, you should be fine to go ahead and eat them. Make sure there's no added sugar. The Atkins book states that 2 pork sausage links have 2 grams digestable carbs but they don't state a brand.

ANother thing to remember is that in packaging can record that there is no carbs per serve if it is less than one (even if it is .9) so it might pay to count each serve as 1 carb to be on the safe side as most sausages do contain some carbs (flavourings and fillers)

Like Lesley said, anything under 1g is listed as no carbs, but isn't necessarily true. So make sure you eat only the serving size described, & it definitely wouldn't hurt to count it as 1g. If the ingredients list sugar, mollases, etc.. there is definitely some amount of carbs in it. Most processed meats have at least a little carbs in them even if it's listed as none. Try looking at the hidden carb calculator link. Good luck.
God Bless,
Amy-Lynne
