Default Good stuff

MCTs are great!

I plan to reintroduce them into my diet next month, and keep them there through my mass phase.

Default MCT's...

I read somewhere (I believe 'Ironman' magazine) that 'MCT's' will short-circuit fat-loss on a ketogenic diet. I know that Dan Duchaine recommended them- while, Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale is 'anti-MCT's' (if my memory serves me right).

Default my understanding ...

My understanding of MCTs during a CKD is to use them only AFTER you have established ketosis. I forget where I read that ... hmmm ...

Anyway, I tend to use them as extra calorie sources when I am bulking up anyway.

And remember ... start slow with MCTs and increase your dose slowly. Funky little gastrointestinal side effects if you start pff with many tablespoons at once. LOL.

You read that in Body Opus. There is nothing wrong with taking MCT before reaching ketosis, it's just that it wont do much for you until you get there. As for fat loss with MCT'S, in order to reduce insulin, you need calories that are not carbs or protein. MCT'S fit the bill. On low carbs fats are converted to ketones. Because they are shorter, MCT'Sconvert to ketones more rapidly than longer fats. MCT's will make you feel better when restricting carbs.

Default good to know

Thanks Randy. Good to know.

Next time I am feeling a little burnt during my keto phase, I'll dump some Cap-Tri into my shakes and see what happens. LOL.

Thumbs down MCT's are NOT good for fat-loss...

Just thought I'd post a quote; Lyle McDonald had this to say about 'MCT's'-
" We want ketones coming from stored fat so MCT based diets

are not appropriate for Bodyopus unless you need a source of

quick energy. Pasquale even goes so far as to say that MCT's will

short circuit the metabolic shift to body fat for fuel as MCT's avoid

the normal fat digestion pathways."
