Default Sugar Alcohols in Fitday?

Do you put these in as alcohols or carbs?

also will sugar alcohols get you out of ketosis?

Alsohol from what I understand will keep you in ketosis but not sure on these sugar alcohols.

thanks,

MJ

I add them into the fiber spot so I remember the correct amount to deduct, messes up the daily fiber count, but I just adjust it.

Hi,

Reviews are mixed on whether sugar alcohols kick people out of ketosis. Lots of people aren't affected by them, but others are out of ketosis after eating food with sugar alcohols. Still others will remain in ketosis, yet stall because of them. Who knows. I guess it all depends on how your body personally responds to them.
I count them as carbs on Fitday. Then I record in my journal entry for that day how many grams of sugar alcohols I consumed. At the end of the day, I just look back and subtract them from my carb total. I wish Fitday had a separate category for them, but until then, this method works for me.
Good luck

Well I tried both as carbs

sometimes new custom food will let me list it as 3g carbs or whatever the net is sometimes it wont.

When it will I count the fiber carbs too and list them as fiber and the rest I count as alcohols

They dont seem to effect me (aside from laxative) but I seem to lose fine and not get knocked out of ketosis

Now I dont get my carb counts confused (I need to add it as half the amount of alcohol though so 20g sugar alcohols I list as 10 alcohol)

I just found out that I am part of the "some people" who can't have sugar alcohols thanks to all my new friends in this forum! If you start to notice a stall in weight loss, try cutting them out.

I actually started gaining a little weight back and my ketostix went neutral even though I hadn't really changed my diet. Then, I quit eating my Atkin's ice cream (18g carbs, 15g sugar alcohols). Literally two days later, I've lost 2 more lbs and my sticks are back to dark pink.

Beware of the sugar alcohols!
