Default Cravings & blood sugar levels

Here is a part of the latest Hold the Toast Newsletter in which author Dana Carpender experiments with blood sugar rises after eating carbs (pasta) as opposed to low-carb bars. She did numerous blood sugar readings after eating each of the foods.

Quote:
As with the other times I've eaten carb-y foods to test the results, I found that my hunger kicked in when my blood sugar fell to right around 140. Worse, by the time my blood sugar had dropped most of the way back down - about two and a half hours into the test - I found myself yawning, and craving both food and alcohol in a way I haven't craved anything in a long time. It was scary to feel that addictive pull again, and it was a real illustration to me of the sugar/alcohol link that I've written about in the past.

You can read the whole issue here. The quote comes from the section "Putting My Tests To the Test!" which is partway down the page.

This perhaps shows why one carby food seems to lead to an inability to control oneself and get back to LC. This is going to help me NOT take 'just one bite'.

There are some other interesting articles in this week's issue.

How interesting -- after reading that article, it just occurred to me that I don't yawn after meals anymore!! While everyone around me is complaining they need a nap after lunch, I have absolutely no feelings of sleepiness at all. Hallelujah!

thanks for the link, I read the whole issue and subscribed. It makes me want to start testing my blood sugar. I'd probably be a lot less attracted to sugar if I saw the actual effect. Also, I never knew that the liquid sweet n low has no carbs.

Did you see the ice cream recipe? UMM UMM

My doctor told me "no more potatoes, breads, cakes and other starches" when we realized I was passing out due to low bloodsugars.
