Default A few to lose

Hi All,

I am considering a low carb/atkins diet. I am 5'5" and I weigh about 134 pounds. I would really like to drop about 10 pounds and find a way to control my cravings and feel healthier. Is this a good plan when you only want to lose a few pounds or is it better orientented for people looking to lose lots of weight. Also how long do people guesstimate it would take for someone like me to lose 10 pounds. I exercise almost every day, cardio and weight training. Thanks for your help.

I think it is fine to use when you only have a few pounds to lose. There are several people on these forums that are in your situation. It is a healthy eating plan for life, however-not just a quick weight loss diet. It may take you a little while to lose those ten pounds, but you will gain many more benefits than just lost weight. I have 15 pounds left to lose and my weight loss has slowed a bit.

Low carbing will certainly get your cravings to a manageable state and it is an extremely healthy way to eat. It makes you feel really good!

To throw the numbers at you, you can expect to lose 10% during the first 2 weeks and 5% every month thereafter. Big wacking loads of fat don't drop of people with little weight to lose so look at it in terms of percentages and not pounds lost. The stories you hear of rapid weight loss are about people who started off with a lot of fat to lose to begin with.

Was popping in to see what "a few" was...and yes, it's just a few!
Which takes longer and can be more frustrating I hear, but however long it takes, there are still more benefits to LC'ing than just the weight loss.

Good luck,
