Smile Introduction

Hi there, I am new to this forum. I have been doing Atkins since August 12th,02. I finally hit a wall of depression where the pain of being unhappy and feeling unhealthy became greater than my resistance to trying to do something about it. While struggling with what to do - I kept hearing from my family about my younger brother's success with Atkins. Since May 02 he has lost 80 pounds and has really validated that he doesn't feel deprived or suffering with this way of eating. My whole family is overweight. I have been overwieght since late childhood, but my perception was always worse than the actual weight at that time. Hearing about my brothers' success convinced me to try this change.
I am married with two young sons and I want to be healthier for them and for myself. I had gained 70 pounds from the time I met my husband 10 years ago and although he never minded it has been dragging me down for years.
I waited until the end of our summer vacation and then went on induction beginning August 12. I started at 294 and currently 263. I realize I need some support outside my family so - here I am. This is the first time I feel hopeful about weight loss management in many years so I want to believe I can manage this as a long term way of life.

Smile Welcome!

cptracy,
You have made a great start on your way to a LC way of life! You will find lot of good information and encouragement here. First, thing is you will want to start a Journal to record what you are eating each day, this is both for you personally, and for others to help make suggestions to fine tune your plan. A journal is also a place to ask for advice, get encouragement, or just somewhere to write down what's going on in your life. Welcome to our family and best wishes.

Regards,
Lux

As Lux says welcome!!

And do start a journal. We have a very supportive crowd here waiting to help you out, check out your menus, and perhaps get to know you better.
