Unhappy Am I doing something wrong?

Hi...I have been on Atkins for about 2 months. I am sticking closely to the rules, even when eating out, but have lost only about 10 pounds. I seem to be stuck and am getting discouraged.i don't know what to try to get the pounds rolling off like I read should be happening. Any advice would be appreciated.

I know it can be terribly frustrating when it seems like you are working your tuckus off to lose a few ounces and other people skip one Big Mac and drop 10 pounds overnight!

However, you need to look at the big picture, you've LOST WEIGHT, and taking it a bit slower usually means you can keep it off easier. From what I've read, 1-2 pounds a week is about right for permanent weight loss.

Also, if you've been locarbing 2 months, you may have just hit your first stall. Your body is just taking a bit of time to adapt to the weight loss.

I would suggest 2 things that might help;

1-start a journal and record your food. That way other members can advise you.

2-If you think you have a slow metabolism you should check out the Turtle Club on this site. Those people are awe-inspiring!

Default Stalling

I have also been stalling for like the last 2 weeks. One thing I decided I would do is what the above poster mentioned - keeping a journal of my food. When I got into this WOE, I told myself I wouldn't be too hard on myself to where I would get discouraged. I thought that keeping a journal would do that, but now that I have started doing it, it's actually kind of fun. Also, you actually get the "big picture" of what you are eating for the week, and if you need to cut back on anything (my biggest enemy is sodium - it likes me, and I like it).
I also stopped weighing myself so much. I was getting to the point where I was weighing myself like every other day, and sometimes a couple days in a row. I would get mad if I went up a little, although I know that everyone's weight fluctuates. So, now I try to weigh at the beginning of the work week, and then at the end (Monday & Friday). I was surprised when I stepped up onto the scale to see that I have finally overcome (hopefully) this weight-loss rut I have been in and lost another 2 pounds.
I am not a very patient person (although I have gained a lot from being married and having a child), especially when it comes to things I really want. All I know is that if I can hold on, anyone can. Take care & good luck!

I would also like to add that you should measure yourself. Many people see a long spell where the scale doesn't move, but you are shrinking, the inches are falling off!

Cool

Quaybird, I know how you must feel. I've been on atkins since 2/1/03 and only lost 6.5 lbs. I use the ketosticks to help keep me motivated. I also found for me I can't eat all the fat. keep at it, slow and steady wins the race! sue
