Default A few questions

Hello,

I am relatively new to all of this, but I have just finished reading the Schwartzbein Principle and I have decided to give this a go. Having read some of the posts on here, I have also ordered the Atkins diet book as well, because that seems to have more of a structured programme.

Anyway, I have a few questions:

1. Alcohol - I have cut this right down, but is it ok to cook with, say, red wine (when all of the alcohol is boiled off).

2. Eggs - Dr Schwartzbein says that you can eat as many of these as you like - does anyone disagree?

3. Are there any fats that you should NOT cook with - I have been only using olive oil and butter.

I think that is it

Cheers

Question

Hi Jamie and thanks for your questions. That's what this forum is for.

1. There is no problem in cooking with red wine or other alcohol provided that you count the carbs in it. I think red wine is about 3 g per glass + alcohol.

2. Eggs, there is no limit to how many you eat. Very much a matter of taste. I don't usually have more than two or three a day.

3. Olive oil and butter are certainly the best fats to cook with. It is not such a good idea to cook with vegetable and other processed oils as changes occur to these when they are processed.

I really enjoyed the Schwarzbein Principle when I read the book earlier this year. I started life of Atkins which is more restrictive, but it seems to work for me.

Every success.
