Default Ever bring your own food to a restaurant?

I have once...brought some low carb tortilla chips to a Mexican restaurant. They didnt notice. I want to go to this Japanese steakhouse that I love and was thinking about substituting cauliflower for my rice. Just wondered what the rest of your have gotten away with.

Just salad dressing. We have a steakhouse we like to go to, but the ONLY dressing on the menu that isn't loaded with sugar is the blue cheese. I love blue cheese, but I can get tired of it. I sometimes bring my own bottle of Hidden Valley Ranch! Mmmmmmmmm!!!!!

I always have a small tupperware container with decaf sugar free iced tea. The waiters get confused when they bring water and come back and I'm drinking tea!

I sometimes bring a ziplock of salad toppings...like bacon bits, shredded cheese, and a bit of good homegrown tomatos. My husband laughs...but it makes the boring restraunt salad taste much better.

NO...I have never done that. It sounds like fun though..freak the waitress /waiter out
When I go out to eat it is usually special..so I don't want to wreck it..
That kinda sounds like going to the movies with your own cooler..( not the drive ins) It's just not me I guess, but good for you if it's your thing

One of the guys I work with is on a very strict diet (not atkins) and he goes to lunch everyday with others from the office.....and brings his own meal. Most of the time he simply gets a drink, but a few places have given him grief and he'll get a dessert or something small....of course, he walks in with a lunchbox, so it's pretty obvious! LOL

Having worked in a restaurant, I've seen a LOT of things, but never yet seen anyone bring their own lunch.... I understand the need to accomodate a special diet, but most restaurants are very agreeable and can make a few adjustments or substitutions. After all, it's a restaurant, not a cafeteria. I also wasn't aware that a restaurant can get in health department trouble allowing customers to bring food into the restaurant, just like a bar being put in liscensing "purgatory" by allowing outside liquor to be brought in.

Most restaurants won't give you grief for a bottle of dressing or a few toppings, indeed if they even notice, but I think I'll just stick to making the best choices I can from what's offered. JMHO

I wish that Atkins would make little packets of SF ketchup and BBQ sauce that we could throw into our purses/pockets before heading out to restaurants. How easy would that be?

I never go out without my low-carb bread. I alert the waiter beforehand and always ask if there is any objection. I would not take meals to a restaurant, however. What about everyone else?

I always bring packets of Splenda and my Walden Farms 0 carb Russian salad dressing. Once I brought low carb tortillas and ordered the Fajitas with no rice or tortillas and just used my own.

Luckily, most restaurants I went to had food on their menus that accomodated our LC WOE. Most allowed substitutions also (i.e. extra veggie in place of a starch or carb).

I bring in my dressing all the time... hehehe
and also packets of splenda...

That idea about the packets of lowcarb sauces.. would make someone a million if they tried it...

I do bring my own homemade BBQ with me to friends houses when i know they are grilling...
Or 2 liter of Diet Rite when I know there will be cocktails

I bring my own sauce/salad dressing. That way you can always get a plain piece of grilled chicken or pork chops etc. and use your own sauce that you know is safe. Same with the salad. I bring my own dressing.
