(I haven't recieved mine yet) is there anything in there about thyroid/treatment for thyroid disease/ or what most of us ponder -- sweeteners? I always look at the index of a diet book first

Exclamation sweeteners

rosarugosa - sweeteners are mentioned. I also looked in the index to find out what she had to say on it. Basically she doesn't promote sweeteners. If you are going to use one she recommends Stevia because it is natural. She also says honey in small amounts is better than sweeteners because at least you are eating real food.

This morning I had oatmeal with cream (no sweetener ), sliced tomatoes and scrambled eggs. It has been a while since I have purposely had carbs with my meal so it was a little hard. But after reading this book I am almost afraid not to have them with my meal.

I think this book goes into much more detail about eating carbs with meals etc. I am not half way through it but so far I really like it. Some stuff is a repeat but that is understandable.

Hope you get your book soon.

Linda

I just got mine yesterday and in thumbing through it I found the same thing - no mention of Splenda and a suggestion to eat a little honey.

Were you dismayed by the length of time it might take to heal your body before you can start losing weight? Ugh. I just read parts and have very little information but I'm hoping I read it wrong.

Susan,

I am reading it through but keep finding myself looking in the index for something I want to see right away. I don't remember how long it said it might take to heal the metabolism but I know that one lady has been eating this way for a year. I don't think I am at that point. I think I am Insulin sensitive with healthy adrenal glands, at least I hope so!

I did notice she is saying to go easy on the saturated fats, is that what she said in the first one??

THanks, everyone. I was notified that mine is on on it's way, I should get it from Wed. on!

Newfirm , I think she touched on concentrating on other healthy fats (other than saturated) if trying to lose , in the first book. When I started counting calories I found this to be important--foods with saturated fats are so much higher in calories and there is so much info in other places about heart health and not over-indulging in them, that it always concerned me about consuming very many.

I fortunately, like stevia. I also occasionally use Splenda, but do worry that maybe it hasn't been around long enough to use very often/safely.

I guess I can read it soon -- like with weight loss I just have to be patient!

The new book really puts it out there. Yes she said use honey, but the caviat is only if you are Insulin sensetive and only once in a while.
There are some new ideas here to ponder. A lot of us have been forgoing the starchy carb because we thought we could do better by using the the green stuff. Guess again folks. We need to add that healthy starchy carb to help us balance all of our hormones, not just the insulin. I think we will all be adjusting and modifying in the near future. I know I am already trying to work the new information into my brain and set up for the week to come.

Her discussion on sleep and stress hit home big time for me. While my sleep is better since I started this in February, I am by no means where I ought to be. The nutrients she suggest are on my to do list for tomorrow. I am amazed at how much emphasise she has put on stress and sleep. That is where I have to focus now. I am just getting to the exercise part. Talk later!

I should get my book tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it I was trying to do the recommended 15-30 carbs per meal but I kept messing up because of the cravings. So I cut way back to just non-starchy veggies for carbs and I'm doing much better. Now I'm afraid to up my carbs.

In my own dieting history, I found that when I forgo the higher glycemic (higher starch) veggies for very long (Atkins induction/Suzanne Somers level 1) that waking in the middle of the night became a definite problem, but when I include a moderate daily amount (TSP) I sleep the whole night. Perhaps that is why. I've found that if I keep it to a moderate portion daily, it doesn't make any difference in weight gain/loss but if I followed the amount recommended for daily consumption in the food pyramid it would!

I hope my copy arrives on time.
