Talking The True Purpose of Bread

Ah Ha!
While having lunch this afternoon I discovered the true purpose of bread. I had carefully prepared my breadless sandwich ... roast beef, chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and on top? .... A spoonful of Mayo.

I sat down very lady-like, lifted the breadless sandwich to my mouth ... took a bite ... pulled it away ... and inhaled a nose full of mayo! It looked very dignified.

The true purpose of bread is to keep the mayo out of you nose!

That is sooo funny, it reminded me of years ago when I was ratting on a friend about eating White bread, and how he should be eating grain bread, ect.

His reply was, What for? all the bread does is hold the meat in anyways!!

The sandwich actually goes farther back than that. When Roman armies were marching to war, it was often to their advantage to move as quickly as possible. How to feed an army on the move? Put the meat on a portable platter....bread! Voila! The sandwich was born.
Of course, it was the Earl of Sandwich that popularized the whole idea and the rest is history.

p.s. A good way to avoid snorting mayonnaise again? Roll up that sandwich inside the lettuce leaves!

So the purpose of mayonaise is to prevent the inadvertant inhalation of the pickle and onion.

So, you're snorting a white substance up your nose? We may have to refer you to Mayo-holics Anonymous!
