Default How many calories?

I am sure this has been metioned before but I cannot find it.

I went and registered in at www.fitday.com and found out that I ate 1373 calories today. That seems low to me.

How many calories do I need to eat? Is there a magic number or formula?

Hi Butterfly,

Yes, that is a bit low. If your intake is only that low now and then, it's not a problem, but if your caloric intake is consistently that low, there is a chance that eventually your body will go into "starvation mode" and you'll stop losing.

10 to 12 times bodyweight is the calorie count we tend to advise here. It's not a hard and fast rule, and doesn't suit everybody. For example if folk have a large amount of weight to lose, 10 times their body weight can be way too much.

I personally lose best with about that rate. Some folk actually find they need 15 to 16 times. .

How do I get more calories I hear you ask? The best way is to eat more fat. Slather your vegies in butter, enjoy plenty of full fat mayo, fry your eggs in oil or butter instead of poaching or boiling. You'll get the idea.

HTH!

Rosebud
