Question Anti-Veggie

Hey fellow CAD-ers,

Having finished reading the book and embarking on CAD, I've got a question regarding the required vegetables in all Plans.

Uh...I can't remember ever eating greens, or any type of it, unless you consider potatoes. I was spanked as a child because I refused to eat my vegetables but the spanking/threats/withdrawal of privileges had to cease once my parents found that nothing worked and left me alone since.

Are vegetables mandantory for CAD to work? I take multi-vitamins everyday and include fruits in my diet for necessary fibre requirements and never had any problems without the intake of vegetables.

And can I subsitute the portion of vegetables with something else, like fruits?

Thanks...

Well, of course you already know the answer... You really, really should try to incorporate at least some green leafy veges into your diet.... only they can deliver some important micronutrients to your body that supplements just don't have. I'm not crazy about veges either, but I do love salads (smothered in blue cheese, of course!) and broccoli swimming in lemon and butter. Is there ANY green veggie that you like even remotely?? Can you disguise it some way (with sauces or swimming in soup?) so that you can get them into your diet? Try being creative. Also, I find that the longer I'm LCing, the more I enjoy a variety of things I never really considered before. Perhaps this will happen with you as well.

Best of luck to you!!!

Talking Veggies

I have a friend who hates vegetables. He always has. The only one I ever see him eat is potatoes.....and they are made into french fries.

My friend is 45ish, needs two new knees and both hips replaced. He hobbles around like a very old man. His skin is pasty. His overall health is rather poor.

Sorry........ but this is what I thought of the minute I read your post.

Be brave, eat a green bean. or two.
(put butter or mayo on them if you like)

Unhappy

Hmm...whoever said fear campaigns don't work? I know I should but everytime vegetables (accidentally) get in my mouth, my reflex action is to vomit.

Perhaps, the past 24 years of not having greens have finally caught up with me - I now suffer from autoimmune disorders (though mild, for now). Hence, the discovery & implementation of CAD. Guess I'll try...for it was only when I suffered for my stubborness that I realise the importance of good health. Vitamins just isn't the same.

I'll let you guys know how I go...wish me luck!

Cool Veggies

hmmm.... I think my post might have been a little dramatic. Sorry about that. It was what I was thinking when I read about your aversion to veggies.

I sure do hope that you can and do find a few veggies that you can tolerate and maybe even learn to like. Maybe you can use butter and mayo.... or put them in soups like Teri suggested.

Your childhood experience is sad and it is a good reminder to us all how NOT to teach our kids good veggie habits. I am lucky, my kids love ALL veggies and eat many varieties each day.

I wish you the best.

Libby

Have you ever considered hypnosis to help you overcome your aversion to vegetables? Sounds like an easier solution than trying to choke them down without vomiting. Poor dear, I'm so sorry you had that experience.

You never know....some things just have a way of working out!

3 months ago I would have told you that I have an aversion to sweat and working out. Now I love it!!!

I wish you all the best
