Default carbolite query.

on the packets of carbolite it says 0.4 active carbs, but on the back it'l say 16g of carb...am i being dense and reading this wrong, or do i count the 16g of carb or the 0.4??

Hi Kerryjane

I expect the active carbs are net of the polyols.

You should see polyols on the back, and you subtract the number of polyols from the 16g total carbs it gives. Hopefully, that will give you the 0.4g net that you are expecting! (Assuming it is "per bar" and not "per 100g" or something else misleading ... )

Hope this helps!

Katy

If you keep losing, you are one of the people who are not stalled by sugar alcohols - the "total carb" count.

But if you stall until you cut them out, then you'll know that you are affected by the SAs.

The sugar alcohols are "not supposed to affect blood sugar levels" and are considered 'inactive' so the manufacturer says you don't have to count them.

you'll just have to try them and see how it goes.

Hi KerryJane

Those carbolite bars are 0.4 carbs per bar. However, that does not mean you can eat lots and lots of them!

As others have said sugar alcohols can affect you in various ways including stalling your weight, giving you wind or worse as a laxative. Also they do contain a lot of calories due to the fat content. Eaten in moderation, and factored into your daily food plan, they are usually fine.
