Cool to carrot or not to carrot?

When alot of the low carb plans came out carrots were outlawed as high carb and high on the glycemic index. Since then, Rick Mendosa has retested carrots and says that the first test was incorrect and carrots are much lower on the glycemic index than previously thought. The author's of sugarbusters has noted in their new book that carrots are now allowed.
What are your general opinions?
Thanks for your input!!

Hi Aysiama

Raw carrots are much lower on the GI than cooked carrots - On Montignac in Phase 1 cooked carrots are not allowed but raw are. In Schwartzbein 2 - cooked carrots are counted as a starchy carb and raw carrots are not.

Hope that helps you some.

Well, I probably still won't carrot completely since it's still classified as a no-no for Atkins, but at least I won't feel guilty if I eat a strand or two in my bagged salads like I have been!

Thanks!

The biggest reason I say I am on a low carb diet instead of Atkins is because I eat carrots regularly.
