I'd say no to the low carb bars on induction for sure. They do have hidden carbs -- do a search for that on this site and you'll come up with lots of info. (Hidden carbs means there are more carbs in them than they say on the label.)
After induction, some people eat them, they make others stall, and others avoid 'em like the plague.
To be really successful on low carb, it's probably best to eat real foods -- meat, fish, cheese, eggs, veggies, butter, olive oil, some nuts -- and not try to find substitutes for the bad foods we've been eating that got us here in the first place
As for ketostix -- there's lots of info in the Atkins book about them. I've never used them, but I'm sure you can get them at a drug store.
