Question Blender advice

Can anyone recommend a really good blender? I have an Osterizer right now and it takes forever to get all of the ice blended in my protein shakes. Since this is something I use every single day, I don't mind shelling out a few bucks if I have to . . . I just want to be sure I'm getting one with lots of gumption!

I think a KitchenAid 5-speed blender works fantastically for crushing ice in drinks. It also makes short work out of pureeing soup.

Not as attractive but utlitarian in nature is a bar blender. It only has two speeds and was designed for making icy drinks. They're made by Waring and you can get a stainless steel or a plastic cannister.

Thumbs up Recommending a Blender~

Hi Dawn, I don't know how much you want to spend on a blender, but I bought one of those *ultimate choppers* that you see on the infomercials, and it PULVERIZES ice!! It makes it into such fine pieces with no big bulky chunks. The chopper part is for doing the pulverizing... but the blender part would be for mixing drinks... HOWEVER, since you already have a blender, I don't see where you couldn't save $$ and just use yours for mixing the drinks. Another thing I considered before I got the ultimate chopper, was one of those sno-cone makers for kids for crushing ice. I got the Ultimate Chopper for the versatility it offered (their website is Ultimatechopper.com) ... hope this helps.
