Default Castillo Rum?

Does anyone the carb count for Castillo Silver Peurto Rican Rum? It's clear if that has any bearing. I'm not that familiar with alcohol.

According to Dr. Atkins Carb Counter,

"Hard Liquor (bourbon, gin, rum, vodka, etc., any proof) (1 fl. oz.)" has:
0.0 carbs, 0.0 fiber, 0.0 net carbs, 0.0 protein, 0 fat, and 82 calories.

Fitday agrees with this. And according to fitday, there are trace amounts of sodium (0.278mg) and potassium (0.556mg) plus 9.29g of alcohol. I put in 8 fl. oz. just to be sure there are no carbs and there aren't.

Almost any liquor is acceptable straight, with water, or with a 0-carb mixer. It will even lower your blood sugar a bit. But, on the down-side, your body will burn alcohol in preference to metabolizing fat, so you will probably experience a slow-down in weight loss until the alcohol clears your system...if not an outright stall.

In addition, a very little bit of alcohol goes quite a long way in your altered metabolism, so it may take a while to gauge your current limits. In short, enjoy, but not too much!

I had a few rum and diet cokes last night and i could tell the difference on the first drink. I felt all light headed. I tested for ketones this morning and I am still a burning along but wow did I ever have (and still do) a headache. It might be from all the caffeine I had with my drinks. My new drink of choice is gin and tonic (just make certain you ge tthe diet tonic)

Flavoured vodka is ok as it uses essances.

Be careful with rum though. Any kind of spiced rum can contain up to 7 carbs per oz. Do a search in the general forum I think. Someone sent away to Capt. Morgans and got a list of the carb counts in thier rums.

Plain pure rum and liquers are ok. Creamed liquers are definetly a nono as are many sweeter ones.

Dana Carpenter has a recipe for mock kalua using vodka and coffee I really want to try She also has a cheesecake that uses it (YUMMM!!)

Thanks guys I don't plan on drinking too often. I'm not much of a drinker. Probably for Halloween night and Christmas eve. I bought some low carb mix to add to it. It's 3 carbs per drink. I hope the taste is there!
