Unhappy Sweet Cravings

Hello,

Today is my 11th day on induction. Last night I had the most intense craving for something sweet. Had some SF Jello with a dab of Reddi Whip on top, but that didn't do it. I have made it through, but gee was it INTENSE.

Have any of you gone through this and can you offer any solutions?

Thanks and have a beautiful day.

I thought Reddi Whip contained sugar, but I could be wrong. When I want something sweet I usually make sugarfree jello but instead of adding all cold water I add whipping cream. It's decadent and several tbsp worth and I'm happy. Also there's bakefree cheesecake. Just put a little nut flour (of some type, I like Hazelnut) on the bottom of a plate and add a mixture of creamcheese, whipping cream and either vanilla or raspberry sugarfree syrup and Splenda. Then nibble that, its fast and decadent.

I usually find the incredibly strong craving after I accidently ate something with alot of carbs. Did you know TacoTime meat contains a filler?
The only way to live through them is to cope or indulge a little with something legal.
Anyway hopes this helps.
P.S those Ross's Chocolate bars are QUITE good. mmmmm.

Hi Chloe May,

I found that the only thing that helped my sweet cravings was L-Glutamine 500mg ½ hour before each meal. Some people find chromium helps, too.

Personally I found that if I ate anything sweet it made the cravings worse. Each to his own though. Some folk find that a snack high in protein and fat (cheese, tuna & mayo etc) helps.

All the best!

I've been making a real "treat" out of decaf coffee with the different SF flavor syrups and cream.

Exercise! I think it stimulates whatever chemicals in my brain are craving sugar -- I try to go for the exercise high rather than the sugar high.

Thanks, I am going to do more exercise and got some L-cart.

The craving is still with me, but not as bad as last night.

I am a sugar/chocolate addict and coming off both and caffeine and real Coke was nasty last week.

I wonder if I order some of those dark chocolate De-Lites candy if it would make this worse or smooth it out?

Right now, am getting off to go take the L-cart.

G'day again Chloe May,

Do you have L-Carnitine or L-Glutamine?

L-Carnitine is a helpful supplement, but glutamine is the one that helps with cravings, not carnitine.

Whoops, I meant L-glut. Have my amino acids mixed up. I took it again tonight and so far so good. Nothing at all like last night. Also drinking more water.

It was wet and rainy today and my joints were achy, so I didn't get to walk.

Thank you again Rosebud.

PS Do you love roses? We do. My daughter and I have over 21 bushes in our rose garden.

Indeed I do. I don't grow them, I just admire them from afar.

Incidentally, I chose my user name because my late mother used to sometimes call me "Rosebud" - mainly when I was being good, which didn't happen all that often!

Cheers.

Rosebud
