Question Advice for a new member please!

Hello Everyone!

Well it's day four of my induction diet and things are going well (I think) I am not weighing myself until next Monday which will be a week to date that I started.

I don't feel too bad and am not hungry - the oly side effect I am having is aches in my legs - is this normal?

Would appreciate your advice.

Abbi

Hi ! You are not alone.

I am noticing the same thing. They cramp up too. How about your feet ? I find mine cramp easily.

What is it that is missing in our diet?

Potassium. Get some potassium gluconate pills. Most of this comes from vegies and fruits, so you might need to supplement one or two tabs a day.
Some people use potassim chloride also, which comes in a shaker and is also a salt substitute.

The salt substitutes are called No-Salt or Half-Salt and are in most big grocery stores. Atkins says to use these on your food and it should be enough.
If you choose to get potassium supplements, follow the dosage instructions on the package (3 x 99 mg per day. No more.)

PEOPLE WHO TAKE ACE INHIBITORS FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE MUST NOT TAKE POTASSIUM IN ANY FORM!

You could also take some calcium and magnesium (ofter combined in one tablet) for leg cramps. Or just eat 5 grams more carbs - stick to veggies - for a day or so for the fatigued and aching muscles.

You'll feel better soon - stick out the first week and things improve.

Yes, calcium-magnesium before bed is a good idea.

Read the book carefully - Atkins specifically discusses leg cramps and what to do about them. It's not too hard of a diet, but you need to follow the rules for a while in order to lose weight and stay healthy.
