Default Wk#1, wiped out. More carbs?

Ecch, I've almost finished week 1, and my energy levels are as low as they were on my first week on Atkins! From reading posts on the forum, I'm getting the idea that I need to add more carbs. This makes me a little uneasy -- how should I add the carbs? 5 a week? Or just add 30 and then see what happens? Ach.

Any advice appreciated.

JC

Hi Jeff. Yep, I think more carbs it is. There are two ways you could do it. Add 5g this week. Easiest way is to eat a 5g treat (cottage cheese, nuts). Or, and this is the way I did it when I was doing BFL, half a 10g treat right after your weight lifting every other day. I followed my lifting with a protein drink and half an apple. Delivered protein and carbs right to my hungry muscles and kept my energy high.

Have you gone through the LC-BFL tips? It will help.

If you need ideas, maybe look at My Fitday Journal... the BFL menus start around Feb 19. The carbs are about 30-40g most days. Might give you some hints?

Hope that helps a little.

OK, thanks Angela. I'll take a look at your journal and re-read the LC-BFL tips. Your suggestions will help a lot. Half an apple is an awesome idea.
