Talking Weight Lost

I am so excited!! Today was exactly one week since I start LCing. I weighed myself this morning and I have lost 5 lbs. YIPPEE!! This is such a great diet, I get to eat good food and not be starving myself to lose weight. I do have a question though. I have been looking at the recipe's and I noticed a dessert (yes, I have to have dessert) and it called for 1/4 c. peanut butter. I thought I couldn't have that? And, what about chocolate? If I'm making something that calls for it, do I buy unsweetened?
This board is the greatest thing, I come here all the time for recipes (which, most are very good) and just to have the support of other dieter's. Everyone, keep up the good work!

Congratualtions on your weight loss so far.

If you have peanut butter it must be sugar free and you must count the carbs into your total. I have no idea what the '14 day diet' is, but for most of us here this is a way of eating for life, not for 14 days. If you're making something which calls for chocolate then you could use pure cocoa powder or diabetic/sugar fee chocolate.

I don't know why you 'have to' have a dessert. It would be better for you to get used to going without them - and you are only 7 days into the diet so far. I would say sugar free jello should be your only dessert for at least another week.

Good luck,
Robert

Actually, I am on induction and I thought that's what it was called before I did some reading about Atkins.

As fas as dessert, I should have clarified myself better. I have been making s/f jello everynight with whipped cream. My DH just has to have dessert, so I join in.

I have been researching the dessert recipes and that is why I asked about the PB & choc.

Maybe, u can answer this question. Can you eat raw peanuts? And, what other kinds, I know you can eat macademian nuts, but what others?

Thanks

Peanuts aren't actually a nut, they are a leguime - and they are high in carbs.

The nuts, besides macadamia, are pecans, caschews and (I think) walnuts. Sun flower seeds are lower too, but I can't have those - just a handfull of those just doesn't seem like enough - I want to eat them ALL!

Hello again Judi,

You should really stay clear of peanuts or any other kind of nut until after induction. Most nuts are about 8g per 100g so if you must have them be sure to count them in your carb totals. Almonds and walnuts seem to be the nuts of choice of people on the board. My problem with nuts is that if I buy 200g, I'll eat that 200g the same evening! maybe you have more willpower
Robert
P.S. I don't even know what a macadamia looks like! I don't think they've reached this side of the pond

Judi, congrats on the loss! Doesn't it feel great?

There are no nuts allowed on Induction...and I would think that means p-nut butter, also. I think I know where you're getting the '14 day diet'...Induction lasts a minimum of 14 days but can last longer if you so desire. Anyway, NO nuts and NO fruit for the Induction period...however long you're in it!

I agree with Robert about the dessert, except on one point. I (personally) would stay away from anything that tastes sweet (even if artifically sweetened) for as long as possible...even the sugar free Jello! They can trigger sweet cravings in some people. After a little while, you'll find you don't even want anything sweet.
