Default Tziki Sauce

Hi, I've been trying to find the stats on Tziki Sauce - since it's bbq season, this is so great for eating with Kabobs. I found a yogurt sauce on fitday.com and tziki is made with yogurt, so I'm assuming it's pretty close, but just want to make sure - I don't want to stall my weight loss.

Thanks

If you make your own, you can figure out the carb count.

Here is a very rough tzatziki recipe:

1 cup full-fat yogurt or sour cream or a combination of both
1/2 cup grated cucumber, water squeezed out
2 garlic cloves, minced
salt to taste

Mix well.

Just made Karen's Tzatziki sauce with sour cream

I'm also going to marinade some pork loin chops to eat with the sauce tomorrow. Thank you for the recipe Karen

You're welcome!

Try it with lamb. It's the best!

Default Thanks for the recipe

Hi Karen - I made your recipe too, with lamb, it's wonderful. Thank you. I worry that the store bought brand would contain too much sugar, now I don't need to worry about it.

Hi all! I just made this with some olive oil added, as well. It's delicious.

Also, I like a nice thick tzatziki for dipping, so I strained the whey out of the yogurt first. To do this, you just have to spoon the yogurt over a coffee filter and a strainer, and put that over a bowl. Let it sit in the fridge all day while you're at work. Come back and you've got yogurt "cheese." You just have to make sure there's no gelatin added to the yogurt.

Tasty!
