Difficult yes - impossible no. It depends on how inventive you are and on how strict you are with your vegitarianism. Do you eat fish? How about eggs? Are you preared to be very inventive with soya?

Lastly, what are your motives for being a vegitarian and are they stronger than your desire to be slim? I realise this may be a moral question but I still think it is a fair one to ask. I was a vegitarian for years until I realised that my reasoning was flawed.

There is a vegitarian section to this board and quite a few active vegitarian low - carbers. I expect one of them will give you a more helpful answer than I can.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Robert

It's possible. Other low carb plans may be easier to adapt to vegatarianism such as Schwartzbein or Protein Power.

You can check out the link to the right under quick link of Which low-carb plan is right for me.

Hi Angelsgal - I followed a veggie version of Protein Power for a while and it worked nicely. Here's the vegetarian forum. It's pretty quiet, but there's a lot of good info there.

I'm rather like Robert: I was a vegetarian only because (a) I was too lazy to buy and cook meat, and (b) I had this vague idea that it was "healthier." I have since decided to learn to cook and I've also realized that there's no compelling evidence that vegetarianism is healthier. *But* that's just my conclusions, I'm not trying to "convert" you.

Enjoy our forum!

Hey!

I am a vegetarian (9 years) on Atkins almost 7 months. I do eat dairy and things with eggs in them and that seems to help a great deal. There are so many low carb meat substitutes out that being a veggie on low carb really isn't all that difficult.

When the doctor suggested Atkins, I was also concerned as there is no way I can go back to eating meat. However, I soon found out that the only way my diet really changed was by giving up cereal for dinner and bread. I actually eat better now than before. Just make sure you get enough protein and get your vitamins!
