Default diuretics

I keep reading some really conflicting info regarding the use of water pills, and now I'm confused.....

diuretics seem to be fairly well known for use in weight loss (short term), but I've been reading lately that they will stop weight loss altogether.........

it's extremely humid (95%) here in Sydney right now, and I'm having trouble with my ankles swelling in the heat. a friend recommended a herbal water pill, but I'm not sure of the consequences.

does anyone have the low-down on water pills??

Hi AussieGirl,

The trouble with diuretics, whether herbal or not, is that they are just a "bandaid" solution. As soon as you stop taking them, the water will come straight back.

Low carbing itself is the best natural diuretic. Restricting sodium will help. Ham, bacon, pepperoni and so on add enormous amounts.

All the best.
