Question Alcohol and weightloss?

I had a few low carb beers last night. I dont think I will be doing that again because the hang over was horriable. But I noticed a 2 pound loss of weight this morning. I have noticed this in the past when I wasnt on Atkins. How does alcohol cause weightloss? I thought it might stale me if anything. But I am glad it didnt. I was wondering if this ever happened to anyone else? I dont recommend drinking on the Atkins plan. Very sick today because of it goes right to your head while dieting.

It's most likely water weight, since alcohol is naturally dehydrating. Sorry to say it may not last. Make sure to get plenty of water to make up for the loss, plus you'll feel better for it - especially if you have a hangover headache.
God Bless,

Ok, maybe, but no more!

I have been drinking while on this diet. I have only been 7 days and I have noticed inches lost, but only like 2 lbs. Might the drinking be holding me up? I read that whiskey, vodka are carb-free?

Your body will burn off the alcohol before it burns off anything else (carbs, fat, etc.) as alcohol is a 'fuel' just like carbs or fat. So, I'd definitely say that the alcohol may be what's keeping you from losing more. I'm sure if you do a search on drinking and Atkins (or along those lines), you'll find a bunch of info regardin the effects of alcohol and LCing.

Remember, too, that the average losses are 10% of your goal loss during induction and 5% of the remaining weight each month after that.

HTH-
Nikki
