Question Carb blockers????

I just got a junk email ad that talked about carb blockers?? Has anyone tried this? Apparently it is a pill you take to block carbs and sugars from being passed through for the occasional want to cheat? Now I have heard of everything! Does any one here use this or recommend this?

I know that some people have asked about them here. If you stay LC, they aren't necessary and I believe they also keep your body from absorbing the nutrients from your food.

Go to the top of this page and click on A Search page will open and you can search for blockers. Be sure to select 'Show as Posts" so you won't have to search the entire thread.

There was an un-official study done by a few low-carbers on another site - they tried the "carb blockers" and ate higher-carb foods and tested their glucose shortly thereafter - the results were disapointing - there was a minimal drop in glucose level which means that the "blockers" did very little if at all anything.

I personally tried them too - for one week eating my normal low-carb fair just upped my carbs to 50-60 per day - I did not see any change - did not gain or lose but was out of ketosis at that carb level and the carb blockers did not "help" in any way.

Default and so I would add

There wouldn't be much need to block the carbs with a "pill" just block them from going in your mouth in the first place, and that otta do it.

P.S. I am guilty of trying these too. Seems like a big waste of $$$

Even if they did work... it reminds me of Jenny Craig.

They give you all your food so you don't have to learn how to do it right. i.e., most people gain it back when they have to make their own choices again.

So... if these pills did work... you lose and then??? probably continue to eat badly and gain the weight back.

Just my opinion.

Default carb blockers

I had high hopes for these.. wanted to cheat. (I know, I know) *sheepish grin*
I bought them and immediately took 1 and had a cheeseburger with bun, and a bunch of fries. They didn't seem to block any carbs at all, as I had gained when I weighed next morning. Ugh!

Now I have plain burgers with a pile o cheese, and sometimes a "todd's (LC) Bagel" as a bun. Yum!

Sorry, there's no easy way out.

Sheri
