Sugar Alcohol

I hear alot of talk about sugar alcohol. Is the sugar alcohol found in lo-carb bars and such the same as the sugar alcohol in vodka, gin etc. OR I really mean does it do the same thing to your body? I know I won't catch a buzz off an EAS bar. (Darn it)

If you are sensitive to the bars would you be sensitive to liquor more than likely?
