Why not start on the weekend, when getting up and going isn't such a rush! Also. plan your meals the night before , and leave notes all over the place that you'll see in the morning. Like, on the bathroom mirror, the fridge and, my favorite place, on top of the clothes you'll be wearing the next day. Good luck!

Yes... planning ahead makes all the difference and really helps you to be successful. I plan my menu for the next day in the evening. I put it into fitday to see how the carbs, fat, and calories are. I then promptly make sure that my lunch is packed for the next day...and pull the meat out of the freezer to thaw for the dinner the next day. Makes the busy day a "no brainer" to stay on track.

If you don't have time to eat breakfast in the morning before you leave the house, make yourself some meat and cheese roll-ups or pieces of celery with cream cheese in them that you can eat in the car on the way to work in the morning. You may need to make them the night before and then just grab them on your way out the door.

Also, it sounds like you might be having some psychological blocks to starting this way of eating. Ask yourself why you want to do this and if you really want to do it right now. You might want to make a list of the reasons and post them on the refrigerator or someplace else.

You don't have to start this week just because it is the first week in January. In my household, where we've all been on vacation for almost two weeks, we have all had trouble getting up and out the door for the last two days. It might be easier to wait a week or two until you all adjust to a working/school routine again.

So start at lunch time then. If breakfast isn't your thing, don't worry about it. Get to it when you do. You should be able to do the plan anyway. What is your first meal of the day like and what can you do to it to make it "in plan?"

No excuses now!!! We're here to cheer you on.

Planning ahead is definitely a key to success, especially for those who live in busy households. I have two kids to supervise getting ready for school every morning. While I'm making breakfast for them, I make breakfast for me or we all eat the same thing. If I'm too busy or just don't feel like eating just then, I pack some boiled eggs or flax cereal to make and eat at work.
I usually try to pack my lunches in advance to facilitate a quick getaway in the morning, but sometimes I forget. To make it easy I always keep some cooked meat on hand and I can always get a salad at the local grocery to go with it for lunch. After all, I'm already packing lunches for the kids, how much harder is it to also pack a lunch for me?
If I looked hard enough, I could find a dozen or more excuses every day to not low carb and even more excuses than that to not exercise, but when you want something bad enough, you find a way to accomplish it.

Thanks for the advice about packing lunches the night before. Now that I've read that I can't believe I never thought about doing it!! I stay at home so I usually pack the kids' lunch in the AM, but the whole time I'm doing it I'm STARVING and all I can think about is feeding myself! Now I'll be able to do that!
